stress-free packing
There are about as many approaches to packing as there are ways to eat ice cream. We’d venture to guess that your ice-cream eating and packing personalities may have a lot in common.
You know the types we’re talking about, the slow, methodical ones working their way carefully around the cone, taking their time as if it’s the only thing they have going on in the world. Or the ones that just scarf it down in a few bites, you’re left wondering if they dropped the scoop somewhere and kicked it under the table, there’s no way they could eat it that fast! And of course, the messy ones – they somehow manage to get ice cream everywhere, even as full-grown adults.
But we digress, back to packing! – less enjoyable than ice-cream – but related in the sense that your packing-style can be slow and methodical, quick and efficient, or haphazard and messy.
We’re going to share three packing secrets with you today – earned and developed over a lifetime of trips - and they are this simple:
Stick to the basics,
Don’t overthink it, and
Be willing to re-wear!
Packing for a weekend shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes. It doesn’t need to be mapped out days in advance and it doesn’t need to stress you out!
The most important tip:
To the extent you can, have dedicated items you use just for traveling. If you travel often, have a fully packed toiletry bag (with duplicates of all your favorites) so that you don’t have to pack that each time.
One of our founders routinely take a three-day work trip every month. Here is her packing list – it fits into a carry-on, and almost never varies.
The basics:
Toiletries
A hair tool (just one, decide if you’re going to go straight or curly!)
Socks
Undergarments
Gym outfit (or a swimsuit if that’s your preferred workout)
*Something to sleep in*
The business trip:
One nice pair of comfortable work shoes
A nice black pant suit (with comfortable pants)
A few different tops (shells and jackets)
The casual trip:
A great pair of comfortable shoes
Your favorite jeans
A few different tops (tees and sweaters)
Seems too simple, doesn’t it? But it REALLY is this easy. If you have a great pair of pants/jeans with a great matching pair of shoes – all you need to do is vary the tops. So much less to pack, and you’ll always look good.
AND last, but not least, you knew we’d come back to *Something to sleep in* didn’t you?
Great sleepwear is key. If you pack your Cassia, you’re covered.
